If it were me i would have it diagnosed then fix it myself the money you already spent would have paid for that saves a lot of headaches trying to track it down

Well I went to my mechanic and he said its the distibuter so I changed it and I beleive I shorted it out because the first time I put it in, I didn't have it all the way TDC so needless to say it still shuts off but no where near as bad and it made it super quiet and it idles really good.

So is it possible to short the distributer out

Yes true but I can't afford it. I looked in the gas tank and the fuel pump looks brand new. No rusted color. Pure white. The only other thing I can do is clean the fuel injectors.

Do any of you think a tranny filter can cause this?

I personally would not trust any wear item from a junkyard.

you get doors, windows, bumpers, etc from junkyards, wear items, if you wanna save a buck go get aftermarket which comes with warranty.

Personally, you should get the truck properly diagnosed instead of replacing parts blind. you might have to spend the money on diagnostics but most of the time you'll save by not having to build a new truck.

I'm talking about the solenoid that controls the EGR valve. I didn't see that you replaced it.

If it's the EGR valve solenoid, I'd get one from a junkyard. U-pick U-pull on Shaver at West Ave has some good prices.

Its nothing I replaced so far and I just replaced the iac and it still doesn't work?

Well I actually believe its the valve control solenoid

You could have soft codes.

What were the 5 codes you got?
IMO I would have had it diagnosed or at least problem solved based off the codes before changing parts or dumping money like that.

Wouldn't a check engine light come on if it was misfiring?

Okay, replaced the spark plugs, wire set, distributor cap, rotor, EGR valve, fuel filter, and the throttle position sensor. All 200 dollars later and it still turns off.

I can say there is no vacuum going to the EGR valve and all the vacuum hoses are where they should be and they are all in good shape with no leaks. What would cause there to be no vacuum to the EGR valve

try the cap, rotor, spark plugs...kinda sounds like you've got a bad miss fire

Yes it does. Then it dies and I can start it right back up

Well a lady at auto zone said it could be dirt getting suck into the tranny filter causing it to shut off and it falls back down when it shuts off?
