Are the items offered for trade actually valid, serious offers?

If not, they should not be posted. There is a current rule:

"The Fish Market is not an area for discussion. If you wish to purchase or trade, please post. However, if you only wish to comment on the quality of someone else's item or their price, with no intention of buying/trading, please keep it to yourself."

I think the item from the member everyone is referring to is valid.

I think eventually someone would want those items but the member has bombarded every or almost every sale/trade thread with offerings of their items so most are tired of seeing it.

I think maybe that member should keep his/her sale/trade thread up to date instead of making 10 new ones about the same items which probably would satisfy the majority on this topic.

I think another thing is asking for sale items for free publicly causing an uproar and train wreck of vultures also trying to come up on a free handout when clearly marked for sale with an asking price.

I don't find a problem in asking for a handout but it would limit the abuse if a pm was sent instead.

Exactly. I didn't want to directly point someone out, but I thought that a moderator would recognize who the person is and say something. That particular person also ran a new member off by being stating the rules, but being rude about it. He doesn't want people to be rude to him, but he's rude to others offering trades. If the rules state that a price must be posted, why can't the rules prohibit unwanted trades on the thread and require a PM be sent instead?

Quite honestly I wouldn't want a ton of PM's either every time I posted something.

We were thinking about adding a dropdown that says 'For Sale - No Trades'.

Are people posting trades in threads that the OP has said NO TRADES? or CASH ONLY? I'm just trying to get a handle on what exactly is going on.

I agree. I guess there's no solution. With it being visible by everyone, there's a lot of burning bridges going on.

There's a person who is offering worthless items on a bunch of the items listed for sale. I think it's pissing a lot of people off. Apparently doesn't seem to bother him. I don't have anything against him, I met him before. Just think he's trying to get items better than what he has for free, and then turn around and make a profit off of them. It just seems a bit unethical IMO. I just don't want the guy to be in a bad place where he can't do business with anyone on here.

I have noticed a trend on the B/S/T area and just thought I'd bring this to everyones attention, it is listed in the rules

"- There is no need to respond with posts such as "PM sent". It does not guarantee your place in line or reserve an item for you. The seller is free to sell the item to whoever they want, regardless of who posted first. "

That is true, but for some seeing a post in the actual thread reminds them to look at their pm's. I know on my phone I don't even noitce pm's being sent.

Most sellers do honor the "in-line/dibs" thing though
