What verry few LPS have is a "greeter" at the door.
Some senior knowlegable person who meets the customer at the door, asks what they are looking for and points them to the right area. Suggests alternatives, warns of possible problems and in general leaves the customer with warm fuzzies.
I used to make the trip to Neptune's every week to pick up live adult brine shrimp, sometimes ghost shrimp and I always checked out every tank looking for things I couldn't go home without. So I would suggest live food and cultures.
I've always thought that if you give away a 10g tank, you could make your money back on all the goodies that go with / in it.
