  • Anyone Here Keep Orchids? Need Advice!

Someone who was trying to do something nice for me, brought me a piece of "home" (aka Singapore). A little 1ft tall bunch of the Singapore national flower Vanda Miss Joaquim Orchids.

What does it mean when the instruction says "Full Sun"??? Like... Do i put it out in the middle of the front lawn or what?
This was kinda weird because all the other orchids that we have had, always came with the instructions to "keep out of direct sun".

I dunno... it's such a nice thought behind the gift, and it came all the way from Singapore, so i really don't want to kill it....
    Any help here?

For a second I though you were talking about the orchid shrimp . . . they are now over $300.

I know nothing about orchids. Best of luck!

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I have successfully kept Vanda's for years and they require a bit different care then typical orchids. Keep them with at least some direct sun through the day and mist daily and water substrate twice weekly and fertilize twice a month. They love warm weather and being outdoors when the weather warms up, otherwise a nice window will do, just avoid drafts.
