  • Bolivar fishing trip

Friday I took a vacation day and took my kayak over to bolivar to do some fishing. I had a great time and caught fish all morning; unfortunately most were peanut specs and rat reds. I did manage to bring home a keeper flounder and red. I was using soft plastics; bass assassins and trout killers. At one point I was surrounded by a school of reds and hooked up every cast for an hour. I fished the area east of the jetty and south of the beach from 100 yds out to the boat cut. The water was flat and the wind calm. I could have paddled to the rigs if I'd been so inclined.

The red was 21" and the flounder not quite 18".

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

Dave, the pole is just a plain old 7' 6" ugly stick. I bought the 3/8" wide measuring tape at Academy and put it on the pole so I could make sure I didn't keep illegal fish while out wading. The tape has adhesive and a peel-off backing, sticks right to the pole.
