I've been thinking about this and maybe I've just been wrong. So...in the spirit of going along to get along let me introduce MY hybrid plan. We'll start with cichlids and then see if we can cross families...why not?!
First, I'm going to try breeding an Astronotus ocellatus with a Caquetaia myersi. We can call it the Oscar Myers. I'm going to make a fortune on marketing the additional associated products. The color enhancing food will be made of primarily hot dogs and bacon.
Then, if all goes well, I will try crossing a cichlid with a catfish, Rocio octofasciatum with Arius danielsi. They should be amber colored and I'll try to breed them with a big COKE (sp?). We'll call it the Jack Daniels.
Then, since I'm sure all of this will be so successful, I'll try stepping away from cichlids and breeding something from two other families. I'm thinking maybe Gasteropelecus sternicla with Poecilia sphenops. It should, at the least, be a very entertaining fish. We'll call it the Molly Hatchet.
Nobody steal these ideas...I'm seeking a patent.
I just couldn't wait for April 1st.
Hopefully someone won't take this seriously, but given some of the other threads, you never know...
