  • Winter storm Feb. 5th and 6th... Pictures of Winter wonderland in Amish Country

    Hi folks

I know you people sweat, swelter, groan and just wish you could ride snowmobiles, cross country ski, downhill ski, build igloo's, snowpeople (politically correct terminology in this day and age), Ice skate and enjoy riding to town in your horse and buggy when it snows...

    So enjoy these pictures...

The following snow person is actually a Amish Snowman. The arms were free moving and waved when the wind blew. Very social and nice person

When your out of goods, a little snow will not keep you from going to town...

On the way back home with roads being narrower, you have to kind of watch for the snowplow... err maybe its the other way.. This Snowplow slowed down, waited for traffic to flow, then raised his blade and passed slowly as to not spook the horse.

When the plow passed by, he lowered the blade again and started to clear the snow back further.

The next two pictures are the covered bridges of which most of the Amish themselves build.

This eating place is called the Amish Door and is the largest one around. It is all manned by the Amish from cooks, to waitstaff and Hostesses.

You can see the snow built up on the roof overhang.

Enjoy and Wish for 14 inches of snow to hang around... eh??

    Bill

      No

Not in this neck of the woods.....

Who is having problems up here????

We did have a power transformer blow up across the road, but the safety switches kicked in and rerouted the circuit.

I am not aware of many other places but could imagine that mayb Brian might have had some problems... He is kinda out in the sticks. But I have not seen much of power outages in Ohio as much as in other areas where there were more wetter snow.

No I'm thinking more mid-atlantic areas like Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

I haven't hread anything. I was just wondering.

          Yeah

Last year Heather lost most of her fish up there...

Hopefully people are getting more and more prepared.

I have battery backup and kerosene heaters in case something were to happen... Also a DC to DC converter to run air pumps..
