I was wondering how hard and expensive it would be to replace the front piece of glass on a 125g tank. Its the standard 6'. I've had this tank in my garage for a year and I was wondering if it would be worth it to have it repaired. Any thoughts??

Hard to answer, I've never seriously considered having one repaired with as many used one that are out there......but I'll guess more than what you can get a nice used one for anyway....???

New glass will cost way more than the used tank is worth. If you can find another used tank with broken glass you might be able to make 1 good tank from all the parts........... or you can use the trim on a smaller tank - just cut to fit.'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Nooooo do not dispose of it...
whatchacandotomakeitwork (what you can do to make it work)
#1 If memory serves me right, the 125 bottom is the same as the front... you can do a marine bottom plywood coated with water proof epoxy seal and then move the glass bottom to the front....
if
#2 The bottom is the wrong size... thats cool anyway... take the marine plywood coated with water proof epoxy seal or use the fiberglass setup and make yourself a good all around grow out tank.
If that does not work or do not want to try
#3 Go to all the glass shops and find a salvage glass piece that can be cut down to size. What is really interesting is that there are some plate glass that comes from huge building windows that can be used..... I bet you Delock or some of the construction type guys know where a salvage plate is......
#4 If its a crack.... Take a smaller plate piece and cover over it... and then fiberglass in such a way that you can add some good rocking background in a very creative style. That can hold plants and things... adding some different filters and other powerheads schemes.
If all that fails.... advertise on Craigslist for the broken tank, saying that you will take a trade of some sort..... or money...
Hope this is helpful

Wow
That would be a overgrown, elephant type wet dry system. Think of the intakes, the media (bio balls would cost almost as much as the tank he he he) and then probably would have to have at least 3 mag 12's running out....
As far as using the fiberglass or pvc sheet on the back.. Take and put a good 3/4 inch sheet of plywood on behind the repair to strengthen

Silicone doesn't really adhere to it properly. Whether or not you repair the tank is definitely going to be affected by the price they quote you on the glass. Another question...have you repaired a tank before? There are some very specific things that you must do to make a proper repair.what about pvc sheet as replacement???Charles Jones

I would call City Pets and ask how much a Ocean Atlantis 125 would be in the color trim you wanted (oak, cherry or black)
Just ask for the replacement tank and tops (as I dont think they are the same size as an Oceanic and then sell the Oceanic)
