Screw that. I'd tell him a deals a deal. He made the purchase in full conciousness. Its not like you mailed it to him. That is something we all face everytime we buy something that is used. If you dont inspect it before you take it, then its your fault if you get burned.

thats not a bad idea. my concern is now that it has made one trip to rockwall and it is making another, i don't know if it leaks. i have no clue what chemicals he could have used on it, and i don't know that i can sell it. so. i just wasn't sure that it was such a good idea to say no to someone who knows where i live and has my phone number.

I would say a deal is a deal. He paid for it, took it, and did LORD ONLY KNOWS what to the tank, and that is the reason it is being returned...or he is trying. I would tell him if he doesn't want it, to resell it HIMSELF, and not incovieneice you with more hassle then you already have at hand. Whats to say he didn't do something stupid and now has a bad tank...not your fault, and if something did happen to it in his hands, that leaves you to fix it or live with it...make him KEEP IT!

I'm having my husband call him and turn it down because yea, i'm like there's no way i can put fish in it or sell it now. i have no idea and honestly, i'm not gonna risk someones fish for this. it was a good deal, and if he knows what was done to it, he can turn it around up there and sell it. thanks guys. i just didn't want to seem like a ***** about it. but honestly, i told him it needed to have haze removed, even gave him all the resources i had to fix it. i've seen what he's talking about and it equates to a third of a side panel and the back which you can't see because it's painted! and he scraped the paint off too so it's gonna cost me money to sell it again, because he's altered it.

do not accept that tank back...just like you said...he may have created a leak. All used items are sold "as is" in my opinion. I would call him back and tell him a deal is a deal and to not bother showing up at your doorstep.

he asked is that the haze and i said yes. i've never tried to clean it, but i've been told to use red vinegar on it and it should be fine. he was like ok cool.

not to mention now i'm finding out he altered the tank because he took the background off. he went down a list of stuff he used on the tank. Scrubbing bruch, Kaboom, vinegar, kitchen scouring pad, glass cleaner, etc. i would have to strip the tank and reseal it to sell it because i don't know if it's in the silicone, and with that getup, he probably scratched it to heck. really appreciate the feedback guys.

Just say NO to returning since you never know transportation might damage your tank or not?

After a long phone call with the guy, my husband is taking the tank back and selling it again. i wash my hands of it guys. if anyone wants it its 175 for boxers. i will make sure it is not leaking and flushed several times before anyone even thinks of purchasing it.

80 gallon update

ok, apparently all my posts weren't getting through. the tank will be for sale again, as of tonight. it is not however coming here tomorrow. My husband called the guy back and told him he needed to wait till we got a check because we can't just return the money at this point. To answer fshfrk's response, it's not someone on here to my knowledge. all i have is a phone number and a name. thats it. i dont even have his email anymore. i was trying to let my husband handle it, because the guy caught me off guard at work. but when my husband backed down too, i'm kinda at a loss for words. now i'm just not sure what to do. he has called the guy and told him we won't be giving his money back till we get our paycheck, because as i pointed out to hubby, that money was going to my kids birthdays, car inspections, and a dr's appt for my oldest tomorrow. Will keep you guys posted.
