I was in Submarines and the cardgame mostly played onboard was Spades and Hearts, or Solitare

Yes...played it in the Philippines. At least, that's what we called it.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? Geoff, I was stationed in Kamiseya, Japan for the three years in a direct support billet to the 7th fleet. Didn't get to go on any subs but was on 4 different surface ships on two different Westpac cruises. We only pulled into Bangkok once and memory is very fuzzy on which dives we hit on Pattaya Beach. Bugis St. in Singapore was much the same. I did, however, go to Ologopo several times in those three years...got to visit and remember some of the less savory establishments where a game of smile over a pitcher of jungle juice could go on for hours. On ship we played poker, spades, hearts, booray and dominoes.

I was in Germany in 73-75...spades was the big game after a bowl and six pack.
