Delock I dont want to sounds sadden by the fact you have to use Chase, but my friend who loves Chase, said the following to me.. Why dont you open a Chase checking account, I only pay them $22 a month for their service and that is not alot in my book. I laughed so hard I nearly coughed up a lung.. Lets just say this. I use a credit union and have never been so happy in my life. Bluebonnet Federal Credit union. Just got to work or live downtown when you open up an account with them (I worked downtown when I did it) and they have been the best ever since...

I have a WAMU account I rarely use. The only reason I kept it open was for the number of ATM's they had available as compared to Regions. Now that I'm in Katy a WAMU is much closer to me than the nearest Regions, but with the merger, the closest WAMU to me has already closed and the Chase branch, right next door to the old WAMU, is not fully operational for WAMU customers yet. The only thing I can use their ATM for is for withdrawals, to make deposits I have to either go into the bank or use the drive through. My account is free even without a direct deposit so I've kept it open to see how things go. I'm not a big Chase fan, never have been. However, I did have security breach on my WAMU account years ago that they never explained to me. Someone had accessed my online banking and changed my address and phone number to someplace in California. Their representatives in India or wherever where completely clueless and not the least bit helpful. All banks will have issues, it's how they resolve them that either makes them a great, good or awful bank. BTW, Regions is not the greatest bank in the world either. Don't give them a task any more complicated than a deposit or withdrawal or they'll make a mess of it. The stories I could tell you about Regions would make your hair gray, maybe that's what happened to mineLast edited by szidlon; 05-12-2009, 05:05 AM.Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...

I have multiple accounts with WAMU - now Chase - and have never had any problems. Last week they took 52 rolls of pennies from me without questioning anything.
My home loan is through Chase. No MAJOR complaints there either.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Chase, Wamu, or any other banks out there....they are all a business..so if you don't do fraud and keep a positive balance..you shouldn't have any problem!...IMO.

Humm, I thought he was asking about service related issues. Oh well, I disagree, they are all businesses, but they do provide different levels of service. Two examples: What would you think of a bank that relocated their branch and was unaware they had a depository ATM until a customer (me) questioned them as to why my deposit had not posted to my account after 5 days. The branch manager looked me right in the eye and apologized saying "I'm sorry, I didn't know our new ATM was a depository ATM as the one at the old branch location was not". I wonder how many deposits were sitting in there not picked up and posted
. How about wanting your portion of an inherited IRA moved to your bank and not kept in Regions and it taking weeks to process and then the VP of the bank hands you the cashiers check made out to the State of Texas instead of State Bank of Texas. And don't even get me started on the problems setting up an Estate bank account, even with the probate papers in order and tax id in hand. Oh, and they also lost their copy of the death certificate sometime during their relocation  .

Not necessarily true, I have had similiar issues with the Regions branch on 529 and Eldridge. I've had CD's mature and not receive notification of the approaching maturity and the CD being rolled over into an incredibly low rate. They admitted they had issues with the maturity notices going out and had to back date my rolled CD and give me a higher rate, this has happened twice in the past year. Any issues with a branch reflects on the bank it's associated with, whether it's improper training or lack of proper management. This is about WAMU converting to Chase and I'm still reserving my opinion on the merger until all the ends are tied up. I will say my mortgage with Regions has been issue free.Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...

I did, you should have seen the letter I sent to Regions once I'd had enough of their foolishness. The regional vp called me to apologize and assure me the issues were being handled. The branch manager was replaced shortly thereafter.Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...

My friend who worked for Chase, had his house loan and accounts though Chase, got an invoice in like the month of April of May saying that they had to charge his escrow account for the late fee's for his taxes. The things is that he had enough money in his escrow account, Chase just forgot to pay the taxes, and instead of saying sorry and covering their own mistake, they charged all the late fees and everything to his account. He moved all his finances shortly thereafter away from Chase.. and still continued working for them for several more years until he decided to move on.

Wow, I don't think I would have just let that slide, but then, the ageing process has made me a bit of a cranky consumer and if an issue is not resolved to an agreeable solution I will continue to be a pain until it is. :evil:Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...

im kinda concerned, as my husband and I were looking at leaving Wachoiva for Chase. Wachovia looks for ways (even re-arranges the order they let items post) so that they can get the most money out of you if you are playing it close to your available balance.
For example, if you deposit cash right at the cut off time, and you will go over if that money isn't there the next day, or attempt to debit something the same day, they let your charges go through and don't post your deposit till the next day, claiming it was after cutoff, when in fact it wasn't. then, instead of running the purchases through in the order they occurr, they put the largest one first, and the smaller ones last, so that they get more NSF charges.140 New World Cichlids
