Wow! He's gorgeous! I have no idea what kind ours is. I was just told Leaf-Tailed Gecko. He's about 8" or so from snout to tail, and after looking at your pictures, I'm feeling really guilty and will go buy him a bigger terrarium.

Here's a bad picture (I tried to crop out as much of the glare as I could)...I'll dig up some better ones later.

Traci, You should talk to PP about one of those DYI water release systems that he has worked on in the past.. I would set it up to turn on your heat lamp in the morning, and then every 2 hours turn on misting for 30 seconds, this way you know it happens all the time and that your guy will be doing fine :) Then turn off misting about 2 hours before the light goes out and then turn off the light and then keep the cycle going like that :)

I used to have a leopard gecko, she would shed really quickly... usually would notice her color being a little grey, then the next day or later the same day she would be back to full color with a fresh skin.

I would figure it would be similarly quick for most species of Geckos... they can be pretty vulnerable during it.

those leaf tailed geckos are pretty cool looking!

Looks like you have a Uroplatus fimbriatus, but it could be Uroplatus henkeli. My vote goes for fimbriatus though. It also looks like he needs more humidity.
They do appreciate a lot of climbing room and live plants. Try to find a used or cracked aquarium some place. He is a good looking one!

Thank you for the ID! How often do you mist yours? I mist ours 5-6 times a day.

I know he needs a larger home...maybe I'll make that a project for this weekend. Do you think he'd be happy in tank that is longer than it is tall? I just assumed he'd prefer height over width...

Wow, 5-6 times a day! That must get tiring! I mist 1-2 times a day. I have a hygrometer in the tank to make sure the humidity doesn't drop too low. Are you using a hand mister? This is what I use, it makes misting MUCH easier and faster.
Taller would be better than wider.

Geckosunlimited.com is a good website for info on them.
