I've had my salary cut by 10%, so I've got to be a bit more thoughtfull regarding my spending, but I haven't really cut back too much. I just look for better prices and try to avoid spending hundreds at a time whenever possible.

When that 55 gallon tank starting leaking last weekend, I did not replace it. I decided to just wait and move the fish to other tanks for now. I have 1 less filter, 1 less heater, 1 less light ect...running 24/7 now.

Guess we're kinna in the opposite boat. At the end of the last school year (pre-current economy crunch) my wife decided to stay home with our daughters, so we really cut way back on our spending. Sold off most of my tanks to help raise money for living expenses.

Well, middle of January the teacher whom took over my wife's class moved to Houston unexpectedly so my wife decided to go back to work.

Seems now I'm wanting to expand my aquarium collection. Looking to purchase new and possibly custom (just found the Houston acrylic tank maker ).

Regardless of the economy, I tend to DIY most things anyway. Curtain things I don't attempt - tanks, filters, pumps; but most everything else I try to build from scratch to save costs and to customize whatever's being built to my situation.

I havent cut back on fish really been trying to cut back in other places just to save money and pay down debt. I havent really been able yet. Thus far my job is very stable it would take an utter meltdown of the economy for me to lose mine. I did see my raise decline but its better then having no job.

I'm in a similar boat. I find that I pay more attention to what I am spending.. but am still spending.
