Re: The 215g is here...beginning the aquascaping

Went to Mike's on Sunday, bought a couple of large peacocks and several smaller ones...the 1st fish to grace the new tank
Mike told us that was enough to get the tank started  :(  Have to wait a week...
He was very helpful and had a nice selection and good prices...can't wait to go back!

You should be fine with just a few fish to start, but you are aware of the tank cycle process, and the need to establish the friendly little microscopic life forms that will assist in keeping your fishies water table safe for them?

Unfortunately, yes I am aware...it's just that my patience is running a bit thin. I have waited FOREVER to get my "dream tank" and now I want instant gratification   , don't we all!!!!

          Steve,

I know what you mean.. if all goes well I am putting up two tanks this coming weekend...  and I know I am going to have to cycle both before moving fish into them.  I have been waiting since October 2007 for one of the two tanks to go up.. and I have fish sitting at Mike's that are waiting to come home.
I went to see Mike today (I am lucky enough to know his phone number) and I picked up the last item missing for my 75... a new light :)

I too am excited but I know if I just drop the fish in they are NOT going to be happy.

Keep smiling and give it two weeks and you will be able to put more in there :)

            Thanks Jesper...I saw your fish @ Mike's!
Raul said you now have his Peacock breeders, and Mike has some of the fry? Or am I mixed up? I saw Raul's peacock at Mike's and I am confused (OK it's 12:15 am and I have to go work tomorrow)

Re: The 215g is here...beginning the aquascaping

The Red Rubescent Peacock male and females you saw are mine (bought them from Raul)  they are on the bottom row on the South American Cichlid side.
The deal I made Mike for holding them was any fry they gave him while there he got to keep them and sell as he pleases.  There has been so far three batches from them and a lady is holding close to spitting, so for sure before they come home to me, he will have 4 batches of fry growing out there.

If you looked over 4 tanks to the left of them you would have seen part of my other malawi's and the last tank holds a Breeding group of Electric Blue Iceberg group which is mine too.

The Red Rubescents are going into my newly acquired 70g from CichlidFan and the Blue Electric, Hongi, and Yellow labs are going into the 75g which we are building a stand for this week and then everything will be ready for it :)

I have fish at home which consists of the 9 Yellow Labs, 3 oxyrhynchus which I cannot wait to put in there.

Sorry for taking up your thread :)   I promise a new one will come with pictures and all when done :)

I know what you're going thru Steve, we all have the same problem waiting for those bacteria colonies to form. I know I cut my cycle short by about fifty percent the first time around.... :)

OR, you could just click on the images you want to post, on the "IMG Code" line, the last of the four listed under the picture. You don't even have to click on Post Reply that way. When you click on the IMG Code line, the link will automatically "copy" itself to your clipboard. Then just paste it onto your reply message (it will be a link beginning and ending with "[IMG]") and, when posted, the photo will show up.
