  • Howdy!

Hey Guys! Name is Chris...I'm not new to fish...just new to the fish box! I'm trying to get out of the saltwater hobby, and get back into cichlids! I'm trying to offload a marine setup and use the money to set up a 29 gallon tank I have!

I guess I should specify, I'm probably gonna try africans this time. I've never had great luck with them in the past, so its more of a challenge this time around!

Do you know what type of African cichlids you are going to get?

I'm not really sure yet...I did really bad picking before researching last time. I did really good with south americans(oscars and terrors)...but I think everyone probably does. They're relatively easy. I have a lot of research to do, cuz I don't really want to just throw a bunch of fish together that aren't compatible. I did that, and it was a blood bath!

The wife says the 55 has to go...she has plans for the space where it sits! I have a bio-wheel and aerators for the 29...i'm just gonna keep it small this time. Probably work my way back up eventually, but for now I gotta keep peace at the casa!

welcome to the box chris! good to have you! it truly is a shame that you can't keep the 55g, as it would give you much more freedom in choosing stock. is there nowhere else you could put it so there could be a compromise?

at the moment, no. My office has been converted into a bedroom for a toddler, and its just not making my wife happy to have it in there. Its not my first 55g...and it won't be my last. I just have to downsize for a moment, and cool my heels for a minute...lol

welcome to the box. I'm glad my wife somewhat supports the hobby. Maybe you have to bribe her to keep the 55g ?
