Wow. Well, here I am again, lol. Hi everyone! Life has a way of making it damn near impossible to chat or to even be a dang lurker! I know it's been a few months since I've been on, so I wanted to say hello again & tell yall some exciting (to me) news. In February I partnered with an established broker out of Austin & have been busy establishing my independent insurance office here in town. That alone has kept me slightly busy! On top of that, one of my older sons moved back home & my hubby, Scorpio, got him a job where he works. That new (again) family dynamic had to balance itself out, as well. Also in February, we took in one of his friends. So, we went from being a family of 3 to a family of 5, lol. That's still working itself out. It's a process but it's working out fairly well.
Now, on to the fishies (and boy have they grown)! When I first joined back in September, we had just purchased 2 baby oscars, a dragonfish, & a baby pleco (in a 75g). We got 2 demon fish (black-banded leporinus), 2 parrots & 2 kissing gouramis (in a 39g) from a fellow boxer shortly thereafter. We also had a 55g with my son's GSP's, Nicole & Jackson. Well, we still have ALL of them, save 1 of the demon fish who lept to his untimely death about 3 months after we got him (even tho the tank lid was on). Before I got too busy to post, we also migrated the parrtos into the 75g & they've really calmed down since they don't live with the demon anymore. Those things can REALLY jump!
About 3 weeks ago my husband moved his boss into a new house. As payment, his boss gave him a 180g Sealife Systems acrylic tank complete with stand & canopy. Today, about noon, we decided to take a trip out to Fish R Us just to see what they have. It's a good sized place (100 feet long) & they have tons of fish & a separate salt water room, too! Since we have this 180g we have some decisions to make! We settled on moving the 2 oscars, dragon, pleco, parrots, gouramis & the demon into the 180g.
Jason (super nice guy) at Fish R Us told us we should be able to put demon & the gouramis in the tank with the oscars without issue & move the little puffers from the 55g into the 39g. When we got home, we did & so far he was right. The demon hasn't freaked out once since we moved him. I'm so happy! That also freed up the 55g which we are going to turn into a community tank. So far, we've decided on blue cobalt angels & we dunno what else yet. We're open to suggestions!
That decision to move the demon & the gouramis into the oscar tank led us to an 8 hour "fish day". After we moved everyone to their new homes, we decided to attempt to set up the 180g. Having no knowledge of a wet/dry filter system, I was thinking this wasn't going to be an easy task. Thank goodness my hubby was a plumber for 10 years! One trip to Home Depot & he whipped that thing back together like it was nothing. My little heart went pitter patter. *proud moment*
So now it's 10pm & we're beat! I have a short want list to complete moving everything around so I'll be posting in the wanted section, also. I wanted to share some pictures of the babies, now that they're a few months old, too.
Here's the 180g
