Yes, hand lotion or soap would be really bad for the tank. Paws with flea powder or dip on them would be bad too. Grape Kool Aid is probably a bad idea as well lol. Roaches or rodents might carry pesticides into a tank or defeat a quarenteen. Snails and insects move around and defeat quarenteens also. Its important to be careful with chemicals around the tanks and pumps. One should be aware of others who might put something in the tank as well.

I think just using an air pump with an air stone in the tank might cause enough surface agitation to break up the film.

I have a problem with tiny, tiny floating particles... I guess it's dust that accumulates on the surface.  About every other week or so I have to skim it off.  I found what may be an unconventional way of doing this but it works!

I take a large funnel, place a small ball of filter floss at the bottom of the cone, then lay in a paper coffee filter, then place a larger wad of floss in the paper filter.  I then lower a plastic cup, open end up, into the tank until water just begins to rush over the rim of the cup - skimming the surface and sucking in those floating particles.  When the cup is almost full I pour the contents through the funnel and back into the tank.  I repeat until all of the dust is gone - usually just a few minutes.

Works like a charm!  Floaties disappear and the fish seem to enjoy the attention.

She is or was selling it for $120.  There was a problem with her larger tank and is trying to sell off her 90g with fish and all.  She told me that she found out her trailer was not meant to support that kind of weight.

I asked if she was gonna keep going with her smaller tanks but I haven't heard back.

I wonder why she didn't list in the market here?

I would love to have that piece of rock for my 110 since I'm doing Cichlids as well.  I have couple of pieces of holey rock but they aren't that nice.  I'm dumping so much money into my setup though I can't afford another $120 right now.

I now see her 90 is on craigslist. If you want this stuff, why not email her there and bid on it? She's asking $1200 for the 90 and $120 for the rock.
