Puffers
Common Name:
Golden puffer, Avocado puffer
Scientific Name:
Auriglobus modestus
Description:
This puffer is a notorious fin nipper. However, not all of them will be aggressive. It's very dependent on the individual.
This puffer will also grow more aggressive with age. I personally had 2 who stayed together for over a year, until one day the larger of the 2 decided to torment the smaller. They had to be seperated at that point.
They are also prone to have overgrown teeth. Of our 2, one has had no dental problems. The other had overgrowth of the teeth and would not eat snails or crunchy foods. The only option was to manually clip the teeth. Using an anesthesia made for fish, I sedated him and clipped his teeth.
They have incredible personalities and bond well with their owners.
