I agree w Superdave, too.  

I got my little Paratilapia's a few weeks ago, and they're only about 3-4 months old.  It's been fun watching their behavior as babies, and even in the last few weeks they've changed color.  By the time they start breeding I will know more about them and their personalities than if I had purchased full grown adults.

what other species will with work xenos I have a couple of clowns and placos. I was thinking a herbivore but i already bread minnows and guppies for food.

I don't know about keeping them in a 4fter...

IMO would limit what else goes in the tank if you plan on breeding.

I know of a person breeding xenos in 40g breeders... though they are in species only tanks.
