44gl help?

I recently got a 44gl and I need ideas. At the moment all it has is 3 dwarf puffers and piece of holey rock. I do want it to be semi-planted and I don't know what variety of fish I'm going to put in it.  I have 7 scissortails (thank you roy!) that i want to put in it. THe puffers are temporany cuz they're going to my bro.  I'm believe I'm going to the GHAC auction so I'll pick up some fish ,plants, etc. I'd love to get some ideas.

You could put some Apistos and some shrimp, maybe Amanos.   Piece of drftwood with a couple of natural looking boulders or slate.  Roseline sharks, maybe.

Well, whatever your decision, you can always change things later, try some hardy plants and some little guys like rasbora's or something, maybe a few cory's with some white clouds, do your research on the pc, get to know the fish that you find attractive, and then find out about the habitat, and then find the store that is closest that has them and bring them home.

If you are happy with your selection after a few days....great, if not, maybe your LFS will give credit towards something else..???

Maybe you will like somebody else's suggeston better.... :) Who knows, ultimately, its your call.

I just got comments from the two Dagons .I feels special.
 Anyway, this is a weird tank. Its five sided. A square with the corner cut off. 24 in depth.  I want to start off simple, and apistos and rasboras sound pretty good. Plants I can usually steal form Mom's 300 gl. She has shrimp also.

Stick a big piece of driftwood in there and tie on some moss.  
There's nothing like a pretty planted tank.

The tank is really close to the computer ( most of my day spent there). I want to see something nice when I watch my pirannhas swim around.  8)

Meg -- dont worry about having more tanks than Mom..  I am sure that Mom isnt counting the ponds as tanks yet...

... with more tanks... you can get more variety :)

... and mom can just add more herself.. if she wants to compete :P

i think you should go with a planted tank and have alot of little fishies in there that are good in that environment..i have roseline sharks, rasporas, german blues, rummy noses, bristlenose, clown loaches,shrimp, and my latest addition is an elephant nose named "scuba steve"....he's adorable.....they are so fun to watch...

If you plan on going with driftwood I would suggest looking for something that has a good amount of branches....or what you can do is get multiple pieces and zip-tie them together to make it look like a big piece and spread it through the length of the tank. Doing this would give you a bit more real estate for tyeing moss,fern or anubias(plants that don't need to be rooted).

A group of cories will definitely jazz up the tank and if you go with rasboras/tetras/barbs get them in numbers! Nothing beats a school of fish at the top as well as the bottom of the tank!
