      If you are seriously considering it I would suggest a refractometer over a hydrometer.

      Hydrometer's will be affected by temps and are hit & miss with accuracy. Refractometers are not much more and work out a lot better.

      But if you insist I have a hydrometer that I got in a pkg buy that you are welcome to jstrider.

        Ek is right but hydrometer is cheaper and for brackish they not as sensitve to specific gravity changes like marine.  So a little inconsistancy never hurt my fish

          I actually would think brackish would be more if not just as much, sensitive to the change.

            from what I've read they tend to be less sensitive to small changes...

            they can swim up and down stream to decrease or increase the salinity of their water
            and a thunderstorm upstream causes the water to flow faster and I would think that would decrease the salinity...

              j is correct.  Brackish fish can swim out to full salt eat and come back. Look at salmon. They journy to full fresh water in days.   Plus heavy rains can push brackish water out and dilute the water.  High tides and sea surge can increase salinity and extend it higher upstream
