Are you doing a fishless cycle with ammonia?

It can be that the bacteria in your tank has begun to multiply if i was you I would just let it be give it a week or so it should clear up have you checked your ammonia levels?

Adding new water in a tank can cause it to cloud it's due to the high nutrients in the water

How would you go about removing the nutrients before adding water?

You don't want to remove them the bacteria will use it to grow

Just make sure you are using a dechlorinator
