Fish R Us in Shenandoah (between the Woodlands and Conroe) used to have some nice African cichlids. but in the past few years their entire livestock has really dropped in quality... SW and FW

I have no idea what a tanganyikan is but ultimate fish off of 2920 used to have a nice variety of cichlids however there store has shrunk to half the size it used to be so I would call and find out what they have left before making the trip

Tanganyikan, refers to the specific fish in which come from Lake Tanganyika in Africa. Ex, Frontosa's, Neolamp Brichardi, shell dwellers, Tropheus, ect.

              +1!

Ultimate has the best selection on tangs hands down compared to anyone else in town. Can't say the same about their prices but the fishes are there.

Just for "looking" you should go to Fish Gallery , they have the most fish, plants, tanks of all, the display (s) is very, very nice, very impressive store! The price is on the high end but people are willing to pay because everything is so clean and nice.
To buy fish, you should go to The Aquarium Warehouse. It is kind of hard to find this fish store on Murphy Road beacuse it is in a large ..warehouse, but it is worth your effort: you can be sure that when you take the fish home, none of them will die on you! What a relief!
The owner is nice, always add one or two extra small fish in the bag for you. (I hope he will add an extra ..discus in the bag next time I buy fish from him ...Just kidding :-)
Fish Land and City Pets are ok, don;t waste your time anywhere else.
                My two cents!

                  Fishland is tight for SW.

Damn near the cheapest place in town. Healthy corals too.

+ 100. Really like their stock, and they have pretty reasonable prices on tanks too.

Indeed... like taking a road trip.

When I was doing reef/sw it was worth it though. Also had a friend that stayed close by so I would have him peep the scene prior.

Probably also one of the only places in town that sells all sizes of UGF's, including some very very large ones!
