Since the 75 is a cycling tank, how many of the juvi's can I add at a time? The cats will go in as soon as it's finished cycling. The tank consist of tahitian black sand, a large piece of driftwood, around 4 large fake plants, and a bunch of rocks I've made little caves out of.

The 55gal consist of gravel, a few flat rocks and decor I have made caves out of, and a few plants. I took the driftwood and some plants out when building the 75. I have to get more things for this tank.

In the 55gal, should I do the 2 pair of bolv rams with a few keyholes instead of the kribs??? I'm still unsure about which school of tetras I'll go with. I just read that the cardinal's are very sensitive to water quality and will possibly die off quickly and I don't have a planted tank. It's more random fake plants here and there. What about rummynose??

Perhaps consider some gouramis for the dwarf sicklid tank as they spend most of their time at the top half of the tank.  Pearls are my favorite, but golds, blues, platinums, even the dwarfs are hardy and non aggressive.

Rummynose are suppose to be more sensitive then cardinals....maybe try some rainbows? Mike has a killer deal on the praecox dwarf neon rainbowfish. They school pretty tightly or look into ember tetras or harlequin rasboras.

With your 75 I'd add your more peaceful cichlids first, your more aggressive ones last.  If your tank is completely cycled I wouldn't worry to much about adding them all at once if you get them small.  
If you can manage to get all female or male convicts that'd be easier (in the aggression dept).  I've heard the electric blue jd stays smaller, although they cost considerably more.  
I had rams and kribs together without any issues.  The kribs can get feisty when breeding but it's not as bad as other fish, just be sure there is plenty of hiding places so everyone has their choice of territories.  I love the keyholes as well, very pretty fish.  If you want one of the more sensitive tetras I'd wait until your tank is nice and stable so you have a better chance of survival.

You two tanks sound like great contrasts between one another, I can't wait for pics!

I live in the Dallas area, so I wouldn't be close enough to get them safely. However, I won't be keeping jd's after more research on them...they'll need more space than what I have to offer in my tanks.

I have 1 dwarf gourami now in the tank with the rams, he/she chases them around. Do you think if I got the gourami a "friend" it'll stop chasing my rams away??

I think after all the help, reading and thinking I've came up with this:

75gal: 1 blue cat, 1 4-line pim, 1 pleco, 2 convicts and 2 firemouths

55gal: 2 pair bolv rams, 1 pair keyholes, 1 pleco, 10 dwarf rainbows or 10 congo tetras

I think firemouths and convicts will cross breed if you let them..and in the 55g I think having 10 rainbows plus 10 congo tetras is a bit much in that tank. Go with either 10 of one instead as it will look better as well

Cross breeding?? Is that a bad thing? Won't the babies be a bit ugly?! That's what I said...10 rainbows OR 10 congo tetras!!! hehe  :wink:

OH...my mistake   ..... go for the rainbows they look so much nicer then the congos IMO.


Have you been to rift to reef over there in flowermound or something like that?

Jeff from ADG just set up a planted display tank for Dane at R2R which I hear is quite the sight and if Dane still does what he use to he had good prices on some interesting dwarf cichlids along with Tangs and stuff.
