    2" hose drains almost 10 times faster.

    Faster=better, thanks!
    Now to find budget-friendly bigger drain hose...

    I use the python/aqueon. To cut down on the mess, I place a large bowl or container in the sink to catch the water. Once the bowl fills up, the splashing stops and the water overflows. Works great. I do wish it drained water a little quicker though.

    I, for one, do not like the Python. It wastes so much water.

    Good to know I can just add it straight from the hose this spring, though!
    I have one of those type of faucet too but I hook mine up to my bathroom sink.

    for temperature I use the touch judge system.... feel the water... feel the hose adjust the faucet handle to the judged temp... fish dont seem to mind... they usually get in the flow off the end of the hose and hang in it...

    I do the same as stated above , but I keep the stream of new water aimed directly at a thermometer . It is hard to judge water temp by feel .

    I know I am a little late adding my two cent to this thread but, I have not seen anyone say anything about the tempature of the water being added back to the tank. IMO, I always try to add the same temp. back to my tanks that I took out. I know it makes a differnce to my Fronts.

    Cudos to you for being overly cautious. I was the same way until talking to tangomike. Now I do just as everyone else stated above. I use Amquel Plus. Watch fish behavior 15-20 minutes after change. If anything seems weird add more quick. I use more than recommended in the beginning to be on the safe side. Fish can't od on water conditioner. Whatever you decide to do, stop breaking your back with those heavy buckets...
