Glass tops too big

I recently bought a used 75g tank that did not come with a top or hood on it. It is 48" long with a center brace.
When I went to a local store, I just bought 2 glass tops that were labeled for 75g tanks. I did not get the exact dimensions before I bought them. They are slightly to long, about 1/8" from sitting in the tank lip like they are supposed to.

I assume these are made of tempered glass. Is there any way to trim these tops back approx 1/4"?

Don't think they are tempered and think you could just cut them.

Most likely got different brand tank from the brand of glass tops.

I payed some local glass shop like 20.00 to have them trim tops. I think a general charge is 10.00 per cut

You get lucky and have a binswanger glass co. near by they will generally trim for free.
