  • high ph??

is it just my tap water or what but the pH in my tank is like 8.8 or more. I'm using the API master kit to test my water. what do you do to bring it down and stay at a certain number. I hears fluctuating ph is worse then a stable high ph...???

You can acclimate the fish and they'll get use to it. Start with using RO/DI water and slowly mix down, That's what I would do. The only thing you might have trouble with at first is the apistos' but most LFS will just throw them into their tank after being shipped in so if they've been there awhile you'll be good.

If you want to get fancy with it, use ADA Aquasoil and that'll keep it really low.

well the fish have been in my regular tap water w/ dechlorinator of course, for a week. and im pretty sure the guy who sold me the apisto said he keeps all of them in our houston tap, so im sure theyre already used to it. i mean all the fish seem fine healthy, eat , very active. so im not too worried.

Shouldn't be a problem then, most problems I see are with those that manipulate the parameters but have no solid way of keeping it from fluctuating and consistent.
