  • Albino Channel Cat - Can I mix it with goldfishes in pond

looks like the channel cats I got for my 72G are outgrowing the size of the tank. I noticed good growth in just a couple of weeks.

Is it a good idea to move them to my pond with gold fishes (150G) not well planted.

    Please let me know.

    Channel catS? As in plural?

They'll outgrow your 150g pond, as well. As for if it's safe for your goldfish, it depends on what they're eating right now. What are you feeding them?

If you really prize your goldfish, it might not be the best idea, since lots of goldfish out there tend to be slow-moving (if they're the fancy types). But it's better than the tank they're in now...but like I said, they'll outgrow that 150g pond pretty quickly, too.

You missed a step in your equation...

channel cats + golfish = fat catfish = gets big.... and so on...

Channels will eat anything that fits in their mouth.

I know some that will eat anything that they can catch, and yet I also know some that are so well fed they never touch anyone else in the tank.

150 GAL is way too small. Channel cats can get up to 75 lb.

Man I totally underestimated the cats. I am just feeding the cats with regular tropical feish food with occasional krills, blood worms. The gold fishes are the faster ones(feeder gold fishes).

                    Thanks guys for your tips.

I failed on multiple attempts to catch the cat fishes from 72G using a fishnet.

May be a skill that I need to develop, if I underestimate the size of the fishes :(

who needs a net...bait up a hook lol. I have channel cats as well in my 150 and they have never attempted to eat any of my smaller cichlids. HOWEVER, they have reached about 14 inches in less than 8 months. I am looking to rehome mine. My husband planned on having our 5000 gallon pond dug and done by now, but I am tired of the catfish slapping water out of the tank lol.
