What will happen when you test amonia?

Depends on how expired it is. Generally the chemicals in the kit are less effective. I don't know specifically about the ammonia test kit though.Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.

It's a million $ question.The manufacture puts a expiration date on a product because they have determined that a product or products has a compound that is only guaranteed to be good for x amount of time and cannot be guaraneed to to gingive you advertised results after that time.I have stuff expire everyday at work and we use none of it beyound the expired date. He asked because my API test kit is out dated. We were testing my water for ammonia. It's still at 1.5-2 ppm. We tested with some disstilled water and it looks like the test is accurate. Maybe I should get a water test for my ammonia
