  • Larger plecos aren't cleaning my tank

I have a little brown and green goo on the back of my new 72 gallon tank and I decided to get 2 - 4inch plecos to help me keep it clean. These plecos are very inactive and don't really seem to be doing anything at all.

I don't have any prior experience with these larger plecos. Is this typical?

My albino and pit bull plecos are constantly moving around and cleaning in my other tanks.
    Jarrod - Houston, Texas
150 gallon - my African cichlid monster tank (I know it isn't a big as yours)
17 gallon - Threadfin rainbows and corys lightly planted
5 gallon - planted red cherry shrimp breeder
3 gallon - planted red cherry shrimp breeder

I guess I will be getting the pit bulls from now on. Much more fun to watch and they don't grow much from what I have read.

It is a tiny thing. Maybe an inch in length. That is the name that Don at FG used for it. I don't know it by any other name. He said it wouldn't grow much at all.

Our big pleco doesn't do anything but take up space, but he's become part of the family so we keep him around. The bristlenose keeps our tank clean.
