Be careful of the paint. Depending on the quality and type letting it sit in water may cause it to come off. I have had a glass holder that I used to hold something underwater for a day and all the paint came of the holder that was submerged. I would just test it out for a day to be safe.

I dont see the harm. Just follow the advice of soaking for a day or two first. Ive done all kinds of crazy things with my little work tank. Most recent is dummy cellphones. I removed the lead weight and soaked for a few days before puting in tank. here take a look.

I'd be concerned that the string holding the beads together would rot away. That is, if you are intending to display the necklace intact in the aquarium.

I personally wouldn't. I've seen people put in one of those plastic 'jeweled' crowns and the paint wore off. The fish died (pink kissing something or other) and no-one knew why. I think it was from the paint coming off the crown but the other theory was that they couldn't deal with all the pink (stress). The gravel was hot pink, the background was sparkle-y pink wrapping paper, and the only decoration was the poisonous crown. :icon_hang:

If you still want to do it, do like these guys said and soak for a few days and then I would see how easily you can scratch the paint off. If it doesn't want to budge you'll probably be okay. The ones I am thinking off are the white plastic that have been painted but I'm pretty sure the plain ones that are made of different colored plastics are okay.
