General rule of thumb is 1 per 10 gallons, but I'd say 5 for long term accommodation

I know they like to be in groups. I haven't had freshwater fish in years. So I'm making sure all the research I've been doing on these guys has been accurate

Ideally, you'd have a 100+ to house a group of 10 or so, but you can make it work with a tank that size

Well I would have a 110 gallon for them but the recent cold weather cracked my tank that I had set aside for discus. I am currently running a 210 gallon reef setup. I'm hoping to get a 185 gallon soon and will be using that as my freshwater setup

Ah, what a shame. If you buy them small and have plans to upgrade soon, you could start with more

Houston aquarium warehouse specialized in discus last I checked. They had an entire wall of their shop dedicated to them. They likely have the pics online. I have not been there in years because I do saltwater now. But they were a mostly online store that specialized in discus.
