Here are the updated pics. Had to reseal one of the bulkheads forgot to clean and re-apply silicone. Also drained it to replant and fix the wood. I adjusted the outlet from the wet/dry to point toward the front glass and now there isnt much movement were my plants are so they arent bent over coming out. I also put more soil on them to help steady them. As for water changes with this thing probably 50% every third day but we will see. I will have to fix the almond leaves as some are all up in the plants and I want them laying on the sand but since I just got done I will worry about it later. I also lost one of my baby discus in the move. He over dramatized what was going on and I treated him the best in the move. Sonja says I can't get anymore for a month. :furious:

yeah, good looking tank so far and I know your not even done.

But I can't help it but say 50% every third day for a 330g tank sucks unless your using massive drain pipes and two return lines.

To do the work I did last night it took about 30 minutes to drain and about 2 1/2 hours to refill. I used a 1" pipe out the back door and hooked up my python to the Eheim. To refill I used the garden hose and brought in inside. I may not be able to use the carbon filter as a refill with that will take several hours I will have to play with it. I also thought about making a drain hose that I can hook up to the Eheim shut-off valve from the intake line but then I have to find the 25mm shut-off valve to do so.

No that is what I am sad about that turned out to be a cool unintended feature the people that are buying the old one I gave them the hint that they can do that if they want.

Depending on how many fish you plan to keep, I'd be willing to bet you could pull off weekly 80% water changes no problem. But...If you are keeping juvi's and feeding a lot to grow them out then maybe not.

Also, at Lowes in the water filtration isle they have a high capacity Whirlpool brand carbon canister that uses large carbon cartridges that you replace every 3 to 6 months depending on usage. I modified one last weekend with input and output brass nipples that connect to clear pvc tubing that I can connect to my kichen sink. It flows pretty good....may not be as efficient as a 15 ft carbon hose but its better than nothing I guess...and very portable. I keep mine inside a 10 gallon tank inside my stand so I can keep the output hose short....just long enough to fill the tank.

                      Good luck with the monster!

I was at Geoff's and he does it a great way. First, he drains with a BIG hose, I'm thinking 1.5'' and that moves a lot more water. Second he refills with the python from one sink and another hose from a different sink. That can improve change times a lot.

But even better, you might want to try to set up more plants. Plants are going to suck up some of the nitrates and this too should cut back the amount of times you need to do a water change.

I am hoping my Amazon swords fill out the planted areas nicely. I am hoping for the two spots to be a thick jungle of swords

Cool, some fast growing plants will help water conditions a lot.

What lights are you planing to have for this tank?

The ones I got from Mike there are two 165 watt. I think I need to get two more since thats only 1 watt per gallon and even though this is a low light planted thats a little too low. Or I might save up and get a pair of MH to hook to the ceiling
