    Re: LF: EBJD

    a full grown adult pair, about 500 bucks!  due to the fact that an adult pair will produce nothing but blue fry.
    i sold my 6" adult male for $125.00.

    heres a pic of him when i got him: he was only 2.25"tl.

    Heres a pic of him at 6.25" when i sold him.

        Re: LF: EBJD

        EBJD= Electric Blue Jack Dempsey
        BGJD= Blue Gene Jack Dempsey "Looks like a regular Jack Dempsey, but one of the parents is a EBJD"
        JD= Regular Jack Dempsey

        EBJD's are not genetically altered or hybrids. They are the equivelent of a person who has freckles" I couldn't think of anything else" , its the result of a recessive gene. They are not commonly found in the wild if not at all because the mother culls these little blue fish out as "runts" so they never even get a chance to grow. EBJD's have very weak immune systems which is the cause of their "sudden" deaths, they usually catch something and be killed by it before you even notice it. But by carefully taking many preventive measures will yield better results.

        I currently have 3 breeding pairs of these and before that, I had 5 full grown males. I lost two "suddenly" and after vigorous research and talking to breeders I learned prevenative measures and have not lost the other 3 males.

        You pretty much have to treat that fish as if it has no immune system, and prevent it from getting sick in the first place.

        As for breeding,

        EBJD X EBJD = Fry that will all die

        EBJD X JD = BGJD

        EBJD X BGJD = 50% EBJD / 50%BGJD

        There is no current way to get 100% EBJD fry that will survive, thus the high cost. Very few of the EBJD's make it to be an adult and very few of those that do become Fertile Males. Thats why a full grown breeding male can sell for upwards of $500 if paired up with a JD female.

        Hope this Helps

              Re: LF: EBJD

              because i got this guy with 5 others, he was the only survivor   he was getting really really aggresive towards his female, due to them being in a 55g, and so i sold him and the female. i dont have any now, because i dont want to dedicate a whole tank just to one fish. i will keep and breed these fish again, but it will be when the genepool is more stable, from a few more years of breeding these fish, and when the cost of these fish isnt as much as it is now, when i bought the six juvies, i got a dea!!! i paid $60 for all six!!!!! so it wasnt that bad, i bought them from a guy on aquabid. i do love these fish, but they are to much hassle and work to care for properly. atleast they are art the moment.
