    Re: flowerhorn facts

Yeah, a lot of the fish in that tank came with another tank we purchased from an individual.  Most of our other tanks are Tropheus only setups, so the 240g ended up being our catch-all.  And it does work...even the Frontosa have kept breeding.

I am suprised that the flowerhorns don't take over. Whenever I had them, once they started breeding, they got too territorial and killed everyone else off.

One of our flowerhorns recently got into a scuffle with a peacock, but it was right after changing out the sand and we didn't get the caves rebuilt just right.  We added more caves...problem solved.

imagirlgeek, i noticed in another thread you wanted to breed your female fhs, are you still interested?  I have a male, but he's only about 5 inches right now, but I would definitely be interested in breeding him in a few months.  Your females are beautiful!

So who is going to house a 90-125/135g tank for them to test out the waters ?
When you all get them together get some pictures :)
Kiovo --- I have seen her FH females and they are really nice... and they are totally tame :)  that is what is so strange about hers...  they dont fight which is what I thought all FH's did :)

That's because our FH's are ladies...and ladies don't fight.    It's not polite.  We've raised them well.

yeah our guy is kinda mean  :(  He's currently in a 75g by himself, I will post some pics up later of him!  We have another fh in our 90g with other mixed cichlids, he/she is definitely the boss of that tank!  It's only about 1 1/2 inch right now, waiting to see what colors he/she'll have!

Yeah, we are Troph junkies, but still love our other fish too.  We have lots of Trophs and then our big fish.  We just can't move to an all Troph household because the big fish are special too. Most of them will eat right from our hands now.

Well, I tried putting a pleco in there once and he kept messing with the pleco.  I think he was just curious but I didn't want the poor pleco to stress to death so I took the pleco out.  We haven't tried putting him with any other fish.  He seems to like me!  Probably cause I'm the one that feeds him, but he hides behind his rock when Jeebus comes around!

                                Re: flowerhorn facts

Sounds like its time for Jeebus to go get an egg crate to make a divider.
I need to get you my large fake amazon plants so she will have a place to hide behind
and a large gray (or dark) dinner plate (this is where she will lay her eggs in.)

Put this all on one side of the tank and then install the divider, put him on the open end and her on the side with all the hiding area's in there.
Let the two of them see each other and get used to each other and then remove the divider to see if they will pair up :)

                                (all above are just suggestions)
