  • VIDS! Von Rios and Geos and Trios, oh my!

Hehe! Spent the evening hangin out at Homeless Aquatics. Got a school of
Von Rio Tetras to add to my 105 gallon tall SA tank. They've just been added so they haven't colored up just yet, plus I've kept the lighting dim for now to let them adjust. Took some videos of the way these mofos school... They look like geo tapajo fry swimming around the heads of the geos! Enjoy the vids... Sorry for the bad positioning of 2 of em, I forgot to hold the phone horizontal.
    Current stock:
    - 8 F1 geophagus tapajo sp. Red Head
    - 3 spotted silver dollars, 3 red hook silver dollars
    - 20 emperor tetras
    - 20 Von Rio tetras
    - 4 giant danios
    - 6 sterbai corys, 3 panda corys
    - 1 chocolate white tip BN pleco, 1 L-144, 1 white tip ABN pleco

Vid #1: still in the bag

    Vid #2 and #3: schooling/fry-wannabe action

Thanks D! You're right, the Von Rios do look like SA red bellied piranhas!! Good thing they didn't bite me fuh real!

Will post a full tank vid tomorrow or Sunday after everyone adjusts and after a water change.

As requested by Donovan... Full tank vid from the couch, with only the nighttime dim lighting on. It's cool cuz you'll see the silver dollars float across, then the Von Rios flit in the other direction at about 0:30. :)

Looks awesome! Wait till they color up! They're just like my Exodons in a bag, but not as hyper. Very nice addition to the tank

Yeah!! Exactly! I'll keep telling myself that until I can have both. Actually, the 105 tall ADG tank IS bigger than my TV.....

Thanks! Yeah, they're nowhere close to as hyper as those crazy nutbag exodons you got!! But this tank is really made alive by the giant danios. They're the only ones who wanna occupy the topmost water column! Every single other fish wants to hang out near the middle or bottom! Annoying lol

Thanks! :) Lights aren't on just yet but I can already tell they're brighter than yesterday. The males especially are stunning!

The Von rios are a great fish and even better addition to a S/A tank.

Very nice move. Looking real good Bee

I'm starting to like them more and more. They may even be showing up the tapajos! Wondering if I should move the silver dollars out and add some live low light low tech plants. Hmmmmmm.

Do it instead of talking about it lol! Would make for an impressive tank setup.

Well I believe Danny's gonna take at least 3 of the silver dollars. After I get rid of all 6, I need to get a good enough light to support swords and fern and such. I started off with a planted setup initially.
