  • Geophagus sp. Tapajos

Second attempt at keeping these guys. Went for F1 juvie Geophagus red head Tapajos instead of the wild sub-adults I had last time. The pics are somewhat dim, but these guys are eating like crazy and just barely starting to color up. Enjoy... there's a vid at the end too. :)

Thanks, mRoy. All due to Sunny and Juan. I'm enjoying them so much! Going to add some more emperors to the tank so my lone one has some friends, finally. :)

Woo Hoo, I bet it will be quite pleased to see a few more of its kind. I have a feeling it was wondering when it would start becoming more pancake like....

Can you imagine if the emperor became flat like the silver dollars... oh man. Given the carnage and massacres both sets of fish have seen, I wouldn't be surprised!!

                Very very nice.

I bought 4 from Fish Gallery. Ours are about the same size. I think i have 1m/3f.

I've added about 20 Von rio tetras and marble hatchet fish.

Have you seen the display tank Tapajos at Fish Gallery? They are awesome.

Nice! I can't tell gender on mine yet... They're barely 3". The FG display tapajos are RIDICULOUS... They just bought more but there's a male in there with crazy trailers. Gorgeous!

Mine are some juveniles FG received from the source that the display fish came from.

Hope to get some breeding action one day.

Already seeing a lot of fin coloring.

Very nice. Wild or F1? Mine are started to have fin coloring too, and 3 of the 8 have a little on their heads. I'm thinking those might be males.
