Good call on the Myleus Setiger, I had a pair I found at Petco years ago and knew they were a different species but never knew what they were exactly... I started looking and was overwhelmed with species...

I love silver dollars. You got some nice new ones theer EK. What plants don't they eat. I have heard silver dollars don't like vals, anubias....

When I had some they ate my swords, crypts, anacharis, the hornwort wasn't doing well in that tank but they finished that off. The assistant assured me that they were not plant eaters. HA!!!

I guess I can let Vals take over the back of a 55 for a few month and set a few anubias in the front and get a handful of Silvers. They are my second favorite Pancake fish after Angels. (I appreciate discus from a far, never got up the balls to try keeping them)

When I was a kid I kept silver dollars with Red-eared Sliders. Kept Pacu in there too. With driftwood and rock formations that both came out of the water. Only plant that survived in theer was onion plants that were potted in a large terra cotta pot

I didn't keep any plants in the tanks these were in, the were used solely for dither fish.

I really like the look of the Myleus schomburgkii -emperor red hooks... too bad they don't get bigger. I'm guessing they would not last long with an arowana as it grows large.

                        edit:
Strange... some websites say they only get to 4.5", other sites say they get much bigger. I wonder which is correct.

Mine are about 4-5" and don't see how they would be targeted when they are shoaling together.

They seem to be still growing as well so I'm not too worried about it. The emperor blue hooks are amazing as well but the get way too big for being in any average sized fish tank.

Okay.... searching around and came up with the ERH which is also called a thin bar, and gets to about 7", and the EBH which is also called a wide bar, and gets to around 12". Does that sound right? How many do you think would make a good shoal?

Sounds like what I've come across too.

The EBH are popular amongst the masses cause of their size abilities since most are keeping them with monster fish so they act like giant dithers.

I personally like the ERH better and the size limitations is a plus for me.

I think any starting at maybe 7? Depending on what size tank you have.

I have 20 and can't wait to see them in a much larger tank cause they shoal like crazy! But being that the smallest is about 3" and most being around 4-5" they don't have much room when they were in the 180g. My brother has 7 or maybe 10 and they pack tight even in a small tank but they're maybe 2".

Fish gallery got in some small ones that I seen today at about 1" but extreme has some that are about 2-3" for cheaper
