What are these?

See the holes/pores? What are they? I am assuming they are a sensory organ. The are symmetrical and around the eyes, nares and jaws of the fish. You can't really see them in person unless you get really really close. But with the new DSLR camera my roommate and I got it makes them stand out.

Anyone know exactly what these pores are? And what they are for?

Nostrils.

-.- really? I already mentioned the fish's nares lol. The holes on their head, around their eyes. I'll highlight them and upload a couple of new pictures for you guys. ^.^

Has the fish had these all his life? Or is this a recent development?

All it's life. All the oscars i've gotten a good look at have it, both of mine. It's just hard to see you have to get really really close to see it. Or use a Hi resolution Camera.
