  • Discus + Altum Angel = Disaster?

I hope that isn't the equation. I just acquired a pair of adult altums that have been acclimated to Houston tap. I actually keep my water on the softer side anyways so I'm not worried about parameters. I'm more thinking along the lines of disease issues but the previous owner kept them with discus as tank mates. Let's see what happens...pics to come and these guys are big. I will try to get a shot of the altums along side a 7"+ wild tefe green.

Excuse the flower pot...trying to get the mated discus to lay eggs so I can extract them

Can't wait to see the pics. I hear conflicting things about keeping discus with angels or altums. I have done both with no problems; however, I would not consider myself the best fish keeper in the world as I can't cure hex with my discus.

I hear a lot of conflicting things too but I see so many people doing it. It's all trial and error I guess...could be expensive error but none the less.

YOUR DISCUS ARE BEAUTIFUL!! I am not brave enough to spend that much money on fish to chance losing them.

Great looking group of Discus!.. I'm surprised they aren't more shy with the minimal amount of cover.. Bill in Va.

These guys require minimal care. Just feed and change water.
