  • Help to ID....Severum?

I saw this fish yesterday and really liked it....sold as Gold Severum. However, it does not quite match my online lookup.

Does anyone know the exact name for these? They do well with some of my Africans.....Mbambas and Peacocks.
I would like to have more, maybe a different color variation.

Looks like a gold severum (Heros sererus)to me.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

red sev (color morph of a gold) how big is it? it's reds could still develop as it grows. mixing sevs with africans is 50/50. I've seen it done before, but I personally wouldn't because severum tend to be slower moving and more peaceful than mbuna and peacocks (in my experience, although severum can hold their own)
        ‎Haiku's are easy
But sometimes they don't make sense

Not that I'd recommend this, but my wife went out and bought three red severums a year or so ago when I was out of town and couldn't prevent it. (She lost fish buying privileges after that! ) They were decent sized already, and they live in a 135G with mostly peacocks and some pretty big venustus, as well as one 9-10" Nimbochromis Polystigma. I've had no issues with them whatsoever, and they are extremely aggressive eaters who more than hold their own during feeding time.

it should be able to hold its own as long as its bigger.....if its the same size or equal to the africans then it will most likely get punked to death....

Its completely fine...that looks like a juvie red severum. Feed it Tetra ColorBits and the red will come out in it more. NLS diet will cause the under shade of yellow to be more noticeable.
