  • new the HFB and wanted to introduce. Critique my tank...

hey there fellow fish freaks. Im new to the HFB and wanted to say hola.
I keep a 75gal south american tank w/ 1 blood parrot, 2 nicks, 2 firemouth, 1 bristlenose pleco and one long fin pleco. I know Im gona catch a ton of flack for the blood parrot, but he was my first cichlid about 5 years back and he's kinda cute. the Nicks are my newest addition and still a little scared in their new environment. The Firemouth are about 6 months old and doing fine. I run 2 Aquaclear 70's a koralia for ciculation 2 48" t8 CFLs and a LED moonlight for the night action.
I plan in the future to add a little wood and would like to do a few live plants, but cant figure out what my fish will leav alone. Was thinking about bamboo....
will eventually add a geo or two and really want a bolivian ram..

her are a few pics, Ill add more when my fishy friends arent so camera shy.fish pics 001.jpgfish pics 002.jpgfish pics 008.jpgfish pics 012.jpgfish pics 010.jpgfish pics 007.jpgfish pics 006.jpg

nice fish. don't let anyone give you flack for the parrot. if you like him is all that matters. That bristlenose is fat as hell, lol. the only advice I would have for you is that a bloivian ram would probably not go so well with your current setup. other than that I think you are in great shape.

also, about the live plants, they will just become play things for your cichlids.

WELLCOME!!!.... +1 on the plants. If you really want some in there you have a couple options. Really hardy and thick leaved plants like dwarf hair grass and amazons swords might hold up to the abuse but they are going to look like they are constantly being nipped on.

I'm a big fan of SA fish....thanks for sharing the pictures....as far as structure goes, (2nd pic) I'm a bit concerned about the flat rock resting on the round rock...but other than that...tank looks good....

                Welcome....
