I know some might give you a hard time about changing from tropheus to geos....
But honestly, I have always like geos. They look really good when they get the long flowing fins!
If I wasn't into just tropheus and petros....it would be geos man.I ate my fish that died.

I know I wasn't the Mark you asked but back when I kept geos they were constantly sifting the substrate looking for food. I think they'd uproot your plants pretty regularly.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I have one geo in my 90g with a few plants in my 90g tank, and they don't bother them. Make sure the plants are the kind with large root systems or anchor them down well.
I think the biggest problem is the substrate. Geos really need sand. While you can grow plants in sand, it isn't ideal, and it will limit the variety of plants you can plant.
I would not put a geo in a true "planted tank" with eco-complete or similar substrate. It's just not fair to them. They want to sift the sand through their gills which they can't do without a sandy substrate.Vicki
