just walked in my room and found my female dovii on the floor. :icon_hang::furious:it didnt hit me at first. i picked her up and flushed her down the toilet. called Brian(tatertot) to see if he knew where to get another one from. after that it hit me. has anyone ever lost and fish and cried inside?

Yes... I just did yesterday when one of my cyps who looked perfect up and died.. Dont know why :( Full grown female. I hope she died of old age... but still

I hate it when that happens....it really bothers me to see a fish on his/her way out ....but on the bright side....I managed to save one of my cyps not long ago...I too, came into the den and found her laying on the carpet, with maybe 5 babies next to her....I picked up the momma and her babies and put them all back into the water....well...all the babies got almost immediately eaten, but I took the momma cyp in my fingers and gently ran her back and forth thru the water.....nothing happened at first.....so I pryed open her mouth and tried it again.....long story short...she's alive today and still spitting out more babies.... :)

Btw Rico.. this is why all of my tanks have lids of some sort..
I use egg crate for the tank I dont have a glass top for. I do not want to find one of my babies sitting on the floor

Yeah I have. And I've cried on the outside, too. I've not had that many fish, but I always grow emotionally attached to them. Usually I've only had just a few fish in a tank at a time and when one dies the rest die, too. Just my terrible luck. I also have a tendency to turn off the filter, heater, etc to the tank and then just leave it alone. I can't bear to clean it out and it hurts just to walk past it.

Its the same place your poo goes so how is that any different? They should be sanitizing the water. But sorry to hear about the loss

My poop is man made and dissolves.

God made the fishes, and they have to decay and then their bones have to be filtered out or dissolved too...

It all eventually goes back to the same place either way...
