On another note: you save my petro's life! He came around to the hair algae the next day. Today I mixed some nori in with the algae and he took that too. He takes straight nori now. Hopefully flakes and then pellets!
I'm so happy! I was going to ask you about that. Awesome!
Great little puffers, I am so glad these came back into the hobby. I had a grouping about 7 years back and then they dropped off the lists. Been extreamly tempted to get another set. But they don't mix well with my other livestock so I would have to make some sacrifices.
His dorsal is actually pretty red, but I think the lighting and my camera settings didn't really show it too well. But yeah, I'll look forward to it if you say it'll be more red! :) They're both so pretty.
Thanks, everyone!
MJ - I love the troph man, doesn't that count??
the reason i said that is because mine looked like your color when i first got it...
and after settled in...the color kinda changed a lot...
well, maybe its just picture u took didnt show the red...
but i hope yours will be more red in the future..
here are some pics of my pair i took today...
they havent been feed in a few days, so the belly is kinda flat..
Quick question. Have any of your pairs ever mated? I was just thinking that would be really cool if they did. By the way, great looking pair of puffers!! So cute!!
Thanks! I'm curious to know if anyone's had theirs spawn, as well. I've only had these guys for a couple of days, so I haven't yet noticed anything in that area.

how big of tank is ur pair in?
i think if the tank is big enough and has a lot of plants, then its not too hard for these guys to breed..
plus u have a cave in the tank too..
but dont know if the hardness of the water will do some trick or not...
cuz these guys are from south east asia...so i assume they are more suitable in acid waters?
hopefully will hear some good news from u ..
They're in the 10g they came with, for now. Might move them to something bigger with time, not sure. Yeah, I assume they need slightly acidic water, as well, but I've learned over the years that stability and clean water is more important than a specific pH. :) We'll see!
And your right as long as the ph is stable they will be ok. I think someone has mated these before but I'm not sure what the outcome was. They are absoluety beatuiful.
THe last TFH mag had an article about breeding the spotted puffer. Yes the GSP needs SW to breed, but even then there was difucluty breeding them in mass quantities. Give it a read, very interesting.
