these are pics from a week ago maybe?

i dont have many pictures, because it all looks the same. waiting for it to grow out.
and it never occured to me to take pictures of the spawn *doh
I do have pictures of the parents though. They kind of remind me of killer whales because they work together.

Does anyone know the effects of Aquasoil on water?
I know that pH is affected, but what about GH or KH?

I want to breed these rams but my water is too hard for the eggs to develop and i can't afford an r/o system right now, which is partly the reason i got AS as well.

beautiful rams... stunning colors, i had rams spawn and fry develop in houston tap water (of course they got eaten within a day by everyone else), my tank didn't even have aquasoil, it was well planted and mature, imho, if you have a heavily planted mature tank then it will eventually work, you already have a heavily planted tank, so just wait it to mature a little bit maybe and then it will happen, mine happened twice and then the daddy died :(, if you want success with them, i would suggest moving them to their own tank, they are great parents, but the stress of fending off intruders is too much for them sometimes, i think that's why my ram died

I have a lot of blue green algae. Im guessing its nitrates? but i don't want to start dosing until the cycle is done.

the hairgrass has grown really fast. I can't believe how fast its grown. but a lot of the plants did take a hit, mainly my fault for not doing daily water changes, although they are recovering now. most of my blyxa died, corkscrew vals are a bit melted but still thriving, i saw a runner today. I don't have anything else in here much. I'm hoping my one stem of limno aromatica survives, and ive also got a little bit of microsword, hoping that will carpet.

as far as fish go, i will be putting the GBR, pseudomugil gertrudaes, threadfin rainbows, and white clouds. I'm still not sure about the killies, but they'll probably go in here too. I'm going to put RCS in here as well as my new CRS once they start breeding! of the three tiger shrimp i found in this tank before the rescape, two died probably of stress, and one still is alive but it looks sick, i'm hoping clean water and a the stress-free tank that it's in will help it revive. I was thinking of putting my Celestial Pearl Danios (10-12 i forgot) and green neons (7) in here but i'm not sure if that would be too many fish.

          hope you like it :>

I like your planted tank! I really want to do one someday. You said that the plants did badly because you didn't do daily water changes. Are daily water changes necessary for planted tanks or can you do bi-weekly or weekly?

sorry i had written a well explained response but it got erased and i was too lazy to reply. planted tanks are really not that hard. it all depends on what kind of planted tank your doing. As far as water changes you can do weekly, bi weekly or even once a month water changes. It all depends on what kind of tank you have.

The only reason i had to do daily water changes is because the ADA aqua soil releases ammonia for a couple of weeks. To get rid of it you have to do daily water changes. Since i slacked off on the water changes, it really affected my plants. Also the change in water parameters due to the Aqua Soil caused the plants to melt. But honestly it was worth it because the new growth really is amazing, and quick!

I think my tank is cycled now, but i havn't really confirmed iit with water tests. The Aqua Soil is releasing tannis, which i honestly had never heard of, so i dont think i will introduce fish into the tank until that's gone because i really don't like the yellow tint.

picture, mizu-chan has better pictures she just hasn't given them to me.

Ok thanks! Your tank looks really nice. What do you plan on putting in it (fish wise)?

i also forgot to mention that i've got a bad case of cyanobacteria or Blue Green Algae.
i don't want to do a three day black out in fear of it affecting my plants so i'm going to get medicine for it as soon as the new petsmart opens up on monday !

well im putting back all the old fish which include
                    German blue rams,
                    spotted blue eye rainbows,
                    white cloud mountain minnows,
                    a glo-lite tetra,
                    bumblebee goby,
                    amano shrimp.

                    new tank inhabitants will be:
                    red cherry shrimp,
a pair of some sort of killie,

These are possibilities but i'm not sure because I'm scared my tank will be overpopulated:
                    7 green neons
                    12 celestial pearl danios
some sort of goby dan is selling at HAW that looks really nice.

                              update! yuhh

finally put my fish in yesterday! tannins are probably there but not as noticeable as before so its whatever. I'm thinking of rearanging a lot of things and i'm also looking for different kinds of plants still.

these are from a while back when i tried incorporating a hardscape but it really took away from the focal points. i'm thinking of replacing the middle plant with one of the plants on the side because it would make a nicer focal point. we'll see how everything goes. i've got a crapload of blyxa i might include as well.
