    My semi planted tank.

    Here is a picture of my semi planted tank. Low light no co2, just dipping my toes for now. I may do co2 later on. Right now I'm just playing around. I think I have: amazon swords, crypt (some have melted and is now regrowing), anubias, balansae (looks like it but not sure if that's what it is), cabomba, wisteria, red mangrove (growing at the top of the tank until it gets tall enough), val grass, and one unknown plant. I'm just waiting to see which plants do good and which plants die off.
    A house without a puffer is not a Home.

          Cool! Those crypts look like they're doing very well.

          Any reason you have mangroves in this tank? Are you growing them out for another tank?

            I placed an order for them and didn't realize how many I was actually getting. They were suppose to be for my saltwater tank. Which by the way they are doing really well in. I also have some that I put in a hob filter and took the media out and they are doing really good in there too. The mangroves I have in this tank are my left overs. I sort of ran out of room on where to put them. I even traded some for other plants. I thought I would just put them there for now and maybe one day I can use them somewhere else.

            Btw: The crypt in the front left was just put in there yesterday. That's one of the plants that I got from Dan. I'm expecting it to start melting soon. But I wanted to get a picture while it was still big and pretty.

              Nice lookin' tank. Do you have any lighting on the mangroves themselves or just the ambient room light?

                I turn off the house lights when I leave so they are only getting light from the aquariums. I've had the mangroves for about 6-7 months now and they are really doing good. I actually thought about planting a few in a pot outside. (If I only had a pond  :wink: )

                    very nice edm, glad u r doing non CO2, thats what i want to do, also, those angels are looking good, is the pair that spawned recently from here?

                            Here is an update on my tank. I added the driftwood and I'm using a piece of slate to hold it down.  Also added the plants that I purchased at the
                            auction last night. As you can see my plants aren't growing as fast as finfan's. I have to admit, I'm a little jealous.   I also moved my fake driftwood into the
                            28 gallon and accidentally moved two of my loaches with it. I guess I'll leave them there. I would have to tear the tank down to get them out. They are way too fast for me.

                              edm, looking GOOD

                              i love the large driftwood, looks very nice, i think its hard to beat the look of a natural multi-branch driftwood - one thing i wanted but did not include in my set-up because i could not find a cured one

                              your angels are gorgeous, why not some close-up shots?  i am sure they won't mind some good shots :)

                              as far as growth, i would say its more due to the type of plants and ada aquasoil (what type of substrate do you have there?)
