  • What would cause this?

What would cause this to happen to my plants?  This is the second round of plants now.  I already put those tabs under the sand to keep them healthy & my water quality checks out good.

Yup. I don't see problem 2 as being such a problem. If they're hardy plants, they can grow anywhere. However, the one in the picture isn't aquatic. So, what's happening is...it's dying.

Did you by any chance pick that plant up at a chain pet supply, allegedly for aquatic use.  It really just aggravates the dickens out of me when I see that.  I want to carry a piece of paper and a huge marks a lot and "fix" their signage for them.  As best I can tell, most of them are more for terrariums than aquariums   .

this seriously aggrevates me too, and most of the people that work at the chain pet stores fish section are complete morons (there are one off exceptions), just take a few minutes and hear them talk to some of the customers that come in, you will pull your hair out, or ask them a question or two, the one's that are the worst/most dangerous are the ones that act like they know exactly what they are talking about but in reality know nothing, arrrggghhhh
