Low light carpeting plants

the low light condition will cause the hair grass to grow taller. without co2 and adequate light to penetrate the depth the plants will grow very slow or may eventually die. JMHO, dan

I think that no light everything else is a waste. Plants will not be able to utilize the benefit.and also the waste of time to grow so You will need much more light to grow any plant.

Re: Low light carpeting plants
Definitely. You pay a lot for a whole lot of nothing. Filter and light are weak. Tank is cheap. I slightly brushed the corner and it chipped. Had to reseal it. For that much money, a fluval spec is much betterOriginally posted by tys91 View Postthose fluval 5g tanks are awfuly expensive for what they are. I got a full setup 6ft tank for that price lmao

Re: Low light carpeting plants
There were some threads where they added LEDs to the stock light. You could even get the ecopico led arm and mount your own LEDs. There's a lot of alternatives.

I can say that Peacock moss does terrifically in low light and spreads well.

I saw a few threads on the planted tank awhile back concerning alternative light for the Chi. I think what I would do is find a good clip on light and use a 6500K bulb. It might take some tweaking on height away from the tank, but it should give you more then enough extra to do whatever you wanted. I imagine algae will be your only concern. Adjusting the light schedule should help out greatly and high dosing Excel.

Re: Low light carpeting plants
I said it wasn't growing because of the light :) I'm just impressed it didn't die off/back.Originally posted by mistahoo View PostNo wonder it isn't growing that stock light is pretty weak

Re: Low light carpeting plants
5g Fluval Chi. It's the light that came with the tank, though I plan on getting a supplement.

Can you specify on how much low light you're giving? Like how much watts and how many gallon tank?
