Was also thinking of rigging up some 6500k LEDs along the bottom of the mounting bracket to run with the stunner strip to help with plant growth.

I was looking at the light and trying to come up with a way to have it off the tank and secured to prevent the light from falling in. I thought of something similar to this.




Then I looked around Google and found a mounting bracket thing for another light. I'm planning on either getting this mounting bracket and using some 3M tape to attach to it.




Or I might just go with this one to give the tank a nicer look. Both are the same brand just different materials.

There's no stand. The tank is going to sit on a desk. According to this website, it's 79 gph. If putting the canister on the floor lowers the flow too much, I'll just place the filter behind the tank.

No I don't. However you can make a stand, to fit under the stand to remove some of the head space. What's the flow rate?

I probably have a few extra around somewhere. Also there's no issue with having the filter on the floor. Mine are in the floor with no issues and still perform great.

You have a Zoo Med? I know canisters are usually fine on the floor. I have one on the floor right now, but was wondering about the Zoo Med 501 because the pump is small.

I needed one for a 2217 spraybar, I just used silicon and sealed the end. Works great!

So much for the idea of putting it on the floor. I was reading up about it and found the manual online that says not to put it on the floor. It said to put it leveled with the tank. I'll try anyways!

What could I use for a stopper at the end of the spray bar? I had a piece of styrofoam in it. I changed out the styrofoam for this little nylon screw that I cut the threads off, but I don't want to keep that in there permanently.

The little pump on that thing probably doesn't have much head pressure. Try it out and let us know. I think its designed to sit next to the tank, considering its low profile even on a 2.5g it would sit below the rim.

I thought so. I'll try it out once I move the tank over to the gf's house. It really is low profile, but I don't want it hanging on the back of the tank or even next to the tank when it's fully stocked just to keep a nice clean look to it.

Hahah cool! I've seen shrimp hitch rides on snails before and I find it hilarious! Especially the larger snails like mystery snails.

Yeah they are breeding very well. I have the Orange and Chocolates, and they both have substantially sized offspring now. Mine are far more active in their devoted tank with Cardinal shrimp. I did have them in my Tanganyikan tank and they did well, but would hide during the day from the cichlids. Once they got in the Sulawesi tank they are crazy active and just wander around and the shrimp hitch rides on them.
